President Obama wants to freeze some non-defense budget items to curb the deficit but some liberal law makers say it could hurt the economy and conservatives think it is for show. Well, something has to be done about it and not curbing some or totally freezing budget items would at least help. People are worried about the economy but they are also worried about the high deficit that is currently going higher and higher with more spending. I have always been one for a Constitutional Amendment to Balance the Budget. Read more
Talks are going on to get Snowe and Collins on board to pass a reconciled health bill. I just wish they would stop all the politics with this issue. We voted these people in to help with this important issue now it is time Republican and Democrat come together on the issue of health care. But my reasoning is that we should be able to have the same health care plan as our Representatives and Senators. Read more
Senator Carl Levin, Armed Services Chairman has been asked by the Pentagon to hold off on hearings on DADT. It was scheduled for the hearings to end in January but have now been pushed to Febuary 11. What is up with that? This issue isn’t going away and it needs to be dealt with for national security issues. Discharging gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender person from the Armed Services is just wrong. The Congress needs to repeal DADT because of the money it will save in retraining individuals to take the LGBTs place. Read more
The American people are angry about backroom deals to get the health care bill through the Senate. For example, Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska wanted more money for Medicaid for his State before he would vote for the health care bill. Now they are saying that the deal that he made has been removed from the bill. Let see if it really is. Ben Nelson is a conservative Democrat who wants to make his Republican base happy and also to make his Democrat supporters happy. You can’t have it both ways Senator Nelson. Health care is an important issue right now for so many Americans. It is time Congress gets off the duff and do something about it. If they chose to delay it any longer they may not be returning to Congress. The Democrats have control of both houses with allies. So pass the damn bill already. Read more

Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law, a public policy institute that studies sexual orientation law release numbers of gays, lesbians and bisexuals in the military. It is estimated that 66,000 LGBs are serving in the military. This data helps in us repealing DADT. Just think of how many are serving that are not counted. It should matter what your sexual orientation is when serving in the military the only thing that matters is that you want to serve your country in the Armed Forces. Read more
The media center also noted that as recently as 2004, CBS had rejected an ad from the United Church of Christ, which wanted to use the Super Bowl as a chance to tell people it welcomes gay members. If CBS is running an anti-gay ad then it should also run a pro-gay ad. It is only fair. Read more
